The solar panels are finally installed! Lucas came out this Sunday and together we got the panels secured to the roof and the wiring run to the interior of the bus.

Panels are attached to the rails using UFOs! (Universal Fastening Objects). Shown are UFOs and stopper blocks for use at the end of the arrays
Rear array fully attached
View from the top. Lucas is moving the trailer into position to install the forward array
Scaffolding strapped to the flatbed trailer gave a stable yet mobile work platform. Old bus seats were recycled as cushions for the panels
Mid installation on the forward array
All panels secured. Next step: wiring
Mid installation. Each conductor was cut to length and terminated with an MC4 connector before running it to the roof
All wiring run, and in the middle of sealing the egress point. Flexible conduit is used to protect the wires anywhere they might contact a sharp edge
Almost finished! In this shot the conduit for the positive wires has yet to be slipped into place, and everything still needs taping and zip tying into place
Besides a persistent bulge which won't go away until the ceiling panel is installed, everything looks pretty good inside. Installation of the electrical cabinet is now the only thing between us and an operational solar electric system
Fully installed!
